(Virtual) BOUCHERCON MYSTERY CONVENTION, “SACRAMENTO, WHERE MURDER IS A CAPITOL CRIME.” 15-18 October, Sacramento CA. Bouchercon, (pronounced BOUGH•chur•con) is the annual world mystery convention where every year readers, writers, publishers, editors, agents, booksellers and other lovers of mystery and crime fiction gather for a 4-day weekend of education, entertainment, and fun. The Hyatt Regency and Sheraton Grand was to be the site of Bouchercon 2020, but like many events for the first time will be held on-line. One really great thing though; if you’ve never been able to attend this famed world mystery convention–it is online and registration is only $55! In-person attendance usually costs much more, not to mention the cost of travel and hotel. And besides all the great speakers and discussions you’ll be able to vote online for the prestigious Anthony Awards. Here’s are the award categories and nominees. One of the best of all the Charlie Chan movies! The ambiance for suspense is nicely set in a castle in the middle of nowhere. And there’s always that famous phrase: “One of us is a murderer”. We just love it when they say that!  This is an enjoyable film with a fine cast, and well worth your time. Give it a try. (Tickets: $10, Seniors (62+) $8)

Left Coast Crime is an annual mystery convention sponsored by mystery fans, both readers and authors each year in Western North America. Not only have they hosted their mystery conventions on the Hawaiian Islands, they’ve had “Earl Derr Biggers” as their traditional “Ghost of Honor!” (each convention has a Ghost of honor presiding, this year it’s Raymond Chandler.)
